I don’t know how regularly you check for comments on this blog, but do you know what restaurant this is now? My dad used to go to this coffee shop back in the day and I’d like to visit one day.
Hello. La Pagode was founded in the mid twenties by Alfred Messner, famous entrepreneur in Saigon. It was a culinary
hallmark, mentioned in the ads about Saigon in many cruise ship destination leaflets. You can find more in

A Messner, La Pagode, l’Ermitage de Thuduc. In 1943 the restaurant was separated
from the pastry shop and beer counter, and rented to another Company. A Messner
passed away in December 1943.
The local became eventually the seat of Vietnam tourism in the early 2000’s and the building
was demolished later to make way for an office tower.
